River City Soccer Club

2008 tryout and assessment Information

Ages 8 -18

It is time to starting thinking about Fall Soccer. Listed below are the Tryout and Assessment Dates for our travel soccer program. We start this evening, this may not be something you or your child have not though about in the past, but it’s a great way to get them ready for Middle School, High School or beyond.

We hold it the same week as the River City Soccer Camp to also allow us the opportunity to review players who might not do well in an assessment or tryout but can play at the next level. This way we see them all week.

River City Soccer tryout and assessment dates and times

Developmental teams (U9 to U11) This is our local club soccer. We play other local community teams at different events. We set up home and away games with Columbus, Harris County, Auburn and may have one trip to either Dothan or Montgomery. They will play one tournament in Auburn late August and one in Columbus early December. This is the bridge between Recreational and Select Soccer and the focus is on developing technical skills they will need for the future.

Girls - June 2nd and June 4th at 6 pm
Boys - June 3rd and June 5th at 6 pm

State Select Teams (Select) (U12 to U18) This is our areas top level program. Players here compete on a statewide level with other Select teams. The State of Alabama creates the schedule and we have 4 league home games and 4 in state away games. The club also will send our teams to two club tournaments. One will be at Auburn in late August and the other will be at Columbus in early December. There is a State Cup in November and teams may be invited to register and attend by the clubs Director of Coaching. The focus is on improving technical skills with instruction on the tactical application.

Girls - June 2nd and 4th at 7 pm
Boys - June 3rd and 5th at 8 pm

Teams will be selected after tryouts. All ages are as of August 1st 2008. Players need to try to make both nights. If you have questions please contact me at the number listed below. Thanks and we will see you at Garrett Stadium.

I will post the list for each age for tryouts of the players that made the teams by this Sunday evening on the rangers news and notes sections of the club Website. Thanks for everyone who has come to try out. Last chance for boys is Thursday night June 5th at 7pm at Garrett. this is for all ages. See you there!

Team formation is almost complete. I will post the acceptance list on the Ranger news and notes section soon! Good luck to all that tried out this year! We will have a registration, Uniform sizing and organizational meeting starting at 7:30 sharp this Thursday June 12, 2008 at Garrett Stadium on the Summerville Road (home side) of the Stadium in the bleachers. To save time please download the Registration form on the Ranger news and notes page. Looks like we now have over 100 kids playing travel soccer! Good job everyone.
